Description:
Export Pilsner: 3-4EBC
This is a pale malt made from two-row barley grown and malted in Southeastern Australia. Protein modification is restricted to match the characteristics of European pilsners. Produces pale gold beer with a delicate flavour, an ideal complement to aromatic hops.
Traditional Ale: 5.5-7EBC
Ale malt is similar to pilsner, but more highly kilned and with higher soluble protein. This malt is well modified and is used to make top fermenting traditional British ales style beers. It produces beers of darker hue with more robust flavour profiles featuring biscuity to slightly caramel character.
Vienna: 6-10EBC
Vienna Malt is a rich, aromatic malt. The malt is well modified and kilned at a higher temperature to produce dark colour and nutty, toffee flavours. Typically used in European golden lagers, vienna and marzen beers.
Munich: 12-20EBC
This malt is an aroma rich malt. Good for brewing amber and dark lagers as it adds a rich coppery colour and a fuller malt profile with strong nutty flavours.
Cara: 40-60EBC
is the lightest of the crystal malts, with its brilliant golden colour and full caramel flavour. It is made from green malt, but is roasted at lower temperatures and for a shorter time than typical crystal malt.
Light Crystal: 90-110EBC
Light crystal can be used in any type of beer from golden lagers to darker ales. The colour varies from a very light, honey-shade to a deep gold, depending on the length of the final roasting and colour formation stage.
Crystal: 115-145EBC
Crystal malts contribute to the flavour, colour, head-retention and storage capabilities of beer. They are made from fully germinated barley. Starch is gelatinised into sugars during the roasting process, resulting in a crystalline endosperm, hence the name “crystal”, which gives its distinctive sweet flavour.
Dark Crystal: 250-300EBC
Dark crystal is at the other end of the flavour and colour spectrum, having a burnt toffee character and darker colour. Our light crystal and crystal malts provide further opportunities to capture the different colour and flavour profiles of crystal malt.
Amber: 30-60EBC
Amber malt is the lightest of the roasted malts. The malt has a biscuity flavour and a subtle ochre colour.
Chocolate: 500-800EBC
Similar in colour to the roasted barley, the roasted malts include the Chocolate, Brown and Black Malts. Roasted malts are made from pale malts that have already been through the complete malting process of steeping, germination and kilning. Consequently they impart a lightly smoother flavour than roasted barley.
Roasted Barley: 1200-1500EBC
Ideal for the darkest ales, stouts and porters. Has a rich black colour and slightly astringent flavour.
